El Contador Don Gregorio López de Ayala, vecino de la ciudad de México, con poder de José Ortiz, dueño de recua, vecino de la jurisdicción de Celaya, para vender esclavos, ganados, semillas y otros bienes, lo substituyó en el Capitán Don Juan Palomeque y Lasso, Alcalde Mayor de Jalapa, para que en su nombre del susodicho, saque de poder de quienes tuviere, un esclavo mulato nombrado Juan de Díez, de 35 años de edad, herrado en el rostro con \" ese y clavo\", que hubo del Capitán Don Roque Alfonso de Valverde, por escritura fechada en esta ciudad, el 18 de septiembre de 1683(sic), y para que lo pueda vender al precio más alto que hubiere.
