Don Agustín Suárez, residente en el pueblo de Jalapa, otorga poder a don Andrés Gutiérrez Calzadilla, de la misma vecindad, y a don Andrés Garrido, vecino de la Ciudad de la Nueva Veracruz, para que en su nombre vendan a cualquier persona que les quiera comprar, un esclavo negro nombrado Juan Tomás, criollo de la Habana de 24 años de edad que compró a Domingo Calderón, vecino de la Ciudad de Tlaxcala, como consta en escritura de 14 de julio de 1716. Dicho esclavo se encuentra libre de empeño, hipoteca y cualquier otra enajenación, sin asegurarlo de ninguna tacha, vicio, defecto ni enfermedad pública ni secreta y por los pesos de oro que les parezca.
