Don Luis Antonio Ortiz de Zárate, vecino de este pueblo de Jalapa, como arrendatario de los mayorazgos de don José Leonel Gómez de Cervantes y la Higuera, que se compone el primero de la hacienda de ganado mayor nombrada Santa Fe, Moreno y Buenavista, situadas en las jurisdicciones de la Antigua y Nueva Veracruz; y en segundo lugar de los Ingenios nombrados el Grande y el Chico que comienzan en jurisdicción de este pueblo, dicho arrendamiento los hizo por 9 años, desde el 1 de septiembre de 1770, por lo cual subarrienda a don Mariano Mata, la venta de Plan del Río, por tiempo de 4 años desde el 1 de septiembre, en 100 pesos anuales.
