Don Andrés de la Peña, gobernador actual del pueblo de San Juan Miahuatlán; sus alcaldes Don Feliciano Juárez y Don Miguel de la Cruz; regidores Melchor Pedro y Martín Francisco; alguacil mayor Diego Martín; escribano José Gabriel, dijeron que por real cédula de Su Majestad se ordenó poner maestros de escuela en los pueblos de esta jurisdicción, y para su cumplimiento, la justicia de Jalapa les señaló por maestro de su pueblo a Cristóbal de Zárate, español, vecino de Jalapa; por tiempo de cuatro años, a partir del 16 del presente, en el precio de 150 pesos de oro común anuales, pagaderos por los tercio corridos; más 12 fanegas de maíz en cada uno, y un huevo el viernes y otro el sábado, por cada muchacha o muchacho a la semana.
