Don Sebastián de la Higuera Matamoros, residente en su ingenio nombrado Nuestra Señora de la Concepción, dio su poder cumplido al Alférez Juan Montero, vecino y encomendero en la nueva ciudad de Veracruz, generalmente para en todos sus pleitos, causas civiles y criminales, y para que pueda recibir y cobrar los pesos de oro, joyas, esclavos, mercaderías, derechos y acciones que le fueren debidos; otros sí, para que arriende y repare cualesquiera de sus casas y las demás que quedaron a la muerte de Don Ramiro de Arellano, y administre sus estancias de ganado mayor que tiene en las jurisdicciones de la Antigua y nueva ciudad de Veracruz.
