El Contador Alberto Duarte Correa, estante en este pueblo, dio su poder cumplido a Luis González, vecino de la nueva ciudad de Veracruz, para que en su nombre y en favor del Capitán Juan Navarro, vecino de ella y Capitán de infantería de la Compañía de los Pardos, le obligue por 680 pesos de oro común o la más cantidad que le entregare, por hacerle buena obra al otorgante, durante un año a partir de la fecha que se firme la obligación y para la seguridad de la paga, hipoteque una casa de madera en la dicha ciudad y una esclava nombrada Catalina de tierra carabalí.
