Don Fernando Ruiz de Córdoba y Arellano, dueño del ingenio nombrado San Sebastián Maxtlatlán, dio su poder cumplido a Esteban de Vértiz, vecino y encomendero de la nueva ciudad de Veracruz, para que en su nombre pida, reciba y cobre de cualesquier personas todos los maravedíes, pesos de oro, plata, reales, joyas, esclavos, ganados, haciendas y otros bienes que le deben o debieren; pida cuentas a quien se las deba dar, venda o arriende cualesquiera de sus bienes; quite, y ponga mayordomos, administradores y otros mozos en sus haciendas; y generalmente para en todos sus pleitos, causas y negocios civiles y criminales, que al presente tiene o delante tuviere.
