El regidor Luis Pacho Mejía, residente en su ingenio nombrado Nuestra Señora de los Remedios, y Doña Isabel de Bustamante, su legítima mujer dijeron tener en el servicio de su casa una esclava mulata, ladina, llamada Isabel Bustamante, la cual tiene un hijo de cuatro meses nombrado José, y por los buenos servicios de su madre, dignos de remuneración y el gran amor que le tienen, le otorgaron carta de libertad al niño.
