Don Sebastián de la Higuera Matamoros, dueño del ingenio Nuestra Señora de la Concepción, dio su poder cumplido a el Alférez Juan Montero, vecino de la nueva ciudad de Veracruz, para que en su nombre y a su dita y crédito pueda tomar prestados de cualquier persona hasta la cantidad de 2 000 pesos en reales, y lo pueda obligar a la paga de los mismos en los plazos que concertare. Otrosí, atento a que los dichos 2 000 pesos que se han de tomar prestados son para gastar en las bodas de su cuñado menor Don Fernando Ruiz de Córdova y Arellano con su prima Doña Magdalena Gutiérrez de Ceballos, y como tal su tutor, le dio licencia para que apruebe y ratifique la escritura de obligación, y pueda obligarse a la paga junto con Don Sebastián de la Higuera Matamoros.
