Don Tomás de Santiago y Cruz, junto con doña Juana Núñez, viuda de don Antonio Vanegas, y don Juan de Ariza, dueños de Literas y Avíos de Ligera, vecinos del pueblo de Jalapa, otorgan poder especial a don Pedro de Madera, vecino de la Nueva Ciudad de la Veracruz, para que pueda parecer ante el señor gobernador y oficiales reales de dicha ciudad, y solicite se rediman y libren de las notables pensiones que las tropas de soldados y oficiales que suben y bajan por este pueblo, les ocasionan al tomarles con violencia los bagajes que necesitan para sus transportes y el de sus cargas, por el ínfimo precio de 1 real por legua que por cada uno les pagan con notable pérdida y quebranto de sus haciendas.
