El Capitán José de Hoz Escalante, Alcalde Mayor y Capitán de Guerra en este pueblo y de Jalacingo, dijo que el 1 de diciembre de 1706 dio nombramiento de Teniente General de Jalacingo a don Juan de Frías Cartagena, pero éste no se encuentra en disposición para seguir en el cargo, dejando su buen crédito por lo que revoca ese nombramiento y en su lugar nombra a don Santiago Álvarez Ramírez, persona capaz e inteligente para su administración.
