Don José Ceballos y Burgos, dueño de ingenio nombrado Nuestra Señora del Rosario en esta jurisdicción dio su poder cumplido a Don Alonso Gutiérrez de Ceballos y a Fray Boecio de Ceballos, de la Orden de Predicadores de la ciudad de Los Angeles, sus hermanos, y a su tío Juan de Gaoitia, vecino de la dicha ciudad, para que en su nombre busquen en empréstito o a censo hasta la cantidad de 5000 o 6000 pesos de oro común, y lo puedan obligar a la paga de los mismos, hipotecando el dicho ingenio con todos sus esclavos, aperos, cañas tierras y aguas que posee en esta jurisdicción.
