Don Cristóbal de Santiago, Gobernador del pueblo de Jalapa; Pascual de la Cruz, Juan Vanegas y Juan Francisco, Alcaldes; Antonio de Medina, Bernabé Antonio y Nicolás de la Cruz, Regidores, dijeron sin intérprete, que en cumplimiento de lo mandado sobre que haya escuelas en todos los pueblos, han convenido con Andrés Gutiérrez Calzadilla que les enseñará la lengua castellana y la doctrina cristiana, obligándose a dar y pagarle 9 pesos de oro común en cada mes por el tiempo de 4 años, más 12 fanegas de maíz en cada año, un huevo por muchacho cada semana, las muchachas desde los 5 hasta los 10 años y los muchachos hasta que aprendan la enseñanza.
