Don Juan Martín, don Antonio Hernández y don Miguel Francisco, Alcaldes, Antonio Francisco y Esteban Hernández, Regidores, Mateo Martín, Escribano, por sí y en nombre del común y naturales del pueblo de San Pablo Coapan, a través de Andrés Pérez, intérprete, dijeron que en cumplimiento de Real Cédula que dispone la fundación de escuelas con maestros que enseñen a los indios la lengua castellana, se obligan a pagar a Manuel de Zárate, vecino de la jurisdicción de Jalapa, 80 pesos de oro común en cada año, 12 fanegas de maíz y un huevo que ha de dar cada muchacho por semana y él ha de ser obligado a asistir la enseñanza.
