El Capitán Don Francisco de la Higuera Matamoros, dueño de este ingenio, dijo haber otorgado poder su hermano el Capitán Don José de la Higuera Matamoros y a su primo Juan López Ruiz Matamoros para la administración del ingenio La Santísima Trinidad en su ausencia, su fecha 31 de diciembre de 1669, y en una de sus cláusulas, dispuso se le diera carta de libertad a Isabel mulata, hija de Catarina de la Higuera, mulata soltera, criolla de este ingenio, de 7 u 8 años de edad; y respecto de no haberse cumplido dicha cláusula y movido de muchas causas dignas de toda remuneración, buen servicio y asistencia de la dicha Isabel, mulata blanca, que hoy será de 18 años, por la presente, la liberó de todo cautiverio, servidumbre y sujeción, y le dio poder para que pueda hacer de sí, lo que quisiere.
