Nicolás de la Cruz, Gobernador, Baltazar Juan y Juan Francisco, Alcaldes, Miguel Juan y Pedro de la Cruz, Regidores, y Pascual Juan, Escribano, todos naturales y oficiales del pueblo de Santa María Magdalena Xicochimalco, por medio de Andrés Pérez, intérprete, dijeron que en cumplimiento de Real Cédula que dispone la fundación de escuelas con maestros que enseñen a los indios la lengua castellana, aprendan en ella la doctrina cristiana, a leer y escribir, se obligan a pagar a Juan Eugenio Hernández, vecino de la jurisdicción de Jalapa, 145 pesos de oro común en cada año, 12 fanegas de maíz y un huevo que ha de dar cada muchacho por semana y él ha de ser obligado a asistir la enseñanza.
