El doctor don José Ramón Betancourt, vecino de Veracruz, otorga poder al licenciado José María Serrano, vecino de Veracruz, para que en nombre y en representación de su persona, acciones y derechos, se encargue de los pleitos y cobros que tenga y para que particularmente entienda, prosiga y concluya el juicio que contra él se sigue por denuncia que de dos impresos insertos en el diario titulado "Noticioso", de aquella ciudad salió responsable. Asimismo, le da éste, con libre y general administración con facultad de enjuiciar, jurar y sustituir.
