Don José Ceballos y Burgos, dueño de ingenio de hacer azúcar, dio su poder cumplido al Secretario Pedro de Armendáriz, y a Diego de Sanabria Sepúlveda, para que le puedan obligar en cualquier tribunal de esta Nueva España, en los despachos de Justicia Mayor de la provincia de Jalapa, de que le tienen hecha merced su Excelencia el Señor Duque de Alburquerque, obligándolo en favor de Su Majestad con su persona, bienes y fiadores; para lo cual, sustituyen en los susodichos, los poderes que le dieron Juan López Ruiz Matamoros, Diego de Gamboa y Pedro Gutiérrez de Ceballos, como sus fiadores, en todas las cantidades que le obligaren para dicho despacho.
