Don Tomás Rodríguez, Gobernador; don Pascual de la Cruz, Francisco Ignacio y Alonso de la Cruz, Alcaldes, Marcos Berriel y Antonio de Santiago, Regidores y don Lorenzo de Santiago, Escribano, por sí y en nombre del demás común y naturales del pueblo de Xilotepec, a través de Andrés Pérez intérprete, dijeron que en cumplimiento de Real Cédula que dispone la fundación de escuelas con maestros que enseñen a los indios la lengua castellana, aprendan en ella la doctrina cristiana, a leer y escribir, se obligan a pagar a Sebastián Lobato, vecino de la jurisdicción de Jalapa, 96 en reales de contado, 12 fanegas de maíz, agua, leña que fuere menester y un huevo que ha de dar cada muchacho por semana.
