El General Don Juan Velázquez de la Cadena, dueño del ingenio de San Pedro Buenavista, y Doña Juana Josefa de Orduña Loyando y Sousa, su legítima mujer y dueña de dicho ingenio, dieron carta de libertad a Juan de Sevilla, negro criollo de la ciudad de Sevilla, de 48 años de edad, hijo legítimo de Juan de la Cruz y de Lucrecia de la Cruz, esclavos negros que fueron del General Don Fernando de Sousa [Suárez], Caballero de Santiago, y abuelo de la otorgante; el cual esclavo le cupo en dote a su madre Doña Juana María de Sousa Farfán de los Godos, y el día de hoy lo libertaron del cautiverio y servidumbre en que se hallaba sujeto.
