Don Gaspar de Thormes, vecino de Jalapa, puso por aprendiz a su hijo Diego de Thormes, de 16 años de edad, con el Sargento Don Juan de Valdivieso, residente en este pueblo, para que aprenda el oficio de carpintero de lo blanco, por tiempo de cuatro años, a partir de hoy día de la fecha; en ese lapso, lo ha de tener en su casa, darle de comer, curarlo en sus enfermedades, darle ropa limpia, y al término de los cuatro años, le dará un vestido de la tierra, y el aprendiz no se ausentará de su casa.
