Juan Biafara, negro libre, vecino de la nueva ciudad de Veracruz, compró a Bernardo Antonio, de la misma vecindad, una esclava negra nombrada Magdalena de nación Angola, de 30 años de edad, en 360 pesos de oro común, el 19 de junio de 1645; y ahora confiesa que dicha esclava pertenece a Don Sebastián de la Higuera Matamoros, vecino de esta provincia, en razón de que por la referida negra otorga carta de libertad a Leonor, negra criolla, mujer de su hermano Pedro Biafara.
