Don Andrés Pérez de la Higuera y don Francisco Hernández de la Higuera, como albaceas de don Juan Díaz Matamoros y en cumplimiento de una cláusula de su testamento, fundaron una capellanía de misas con 2 130 pesos de principal y 106 pesos y 4 tomines anuales de renta, los cuales fueron situados en el ingenio de Nuestra Señora de la Concepción. Se nombró por primer capellán al bachiller Bartolomé Pérez, sobrino del instituidor, quien se obligó a decir 36 misas rezadas en cada año.
