Don Juan López de Benavides, escribano de Su Majestad y público del Número de la nueva ciudad de la Veracruz, residente en este pueblo, usando de la facultad que Su Majestad tiene concedida por sus reales cédulas a los que usan en propiedad sus oficios en esta Nueva España, renunció su oficio de escribano público de dicha ciudad, en su sobrino Manuel Pérez de Santa Cruz, escribano, vecino de la Nueva Veracruz, y en Luis López de Sandoval, su hermano, para que el primero que se presentare con testimonio de esta renunciación ante el Superior Gobierno Nueva España, por ser personas hábiles, sea admitido en el ejercicio de dicho oficio, enterando en la real caja de Su Majestad la parte que le cupiese, y acudiendo con la restante, a sus herederos.
