Juan, Ana e Isabel López Ruiz, vecinos de Jalapa, dieron su poder cumplido a Bernardo Velázquez de Medina, vecino de este pueblo, para que en sus nombres parezca ante cualesquier justicias de Su Majestad de Tesechoacán, Cosamaloapa y otras partes donde residiere un negro, esclavo de su padre Juan López Ruiz Matamoros, difunto, nombrado Francisco, criollo de su casa, de 40 años de edad, poco más o menos, el cual lo venda por esclavo cautivo, sujeto a servidumbre. Asimismo, le dieron poder para que si dicho negro quisiere ser ahorrado y libre, pagando la cantidad justa, el dicho Bernardo Velázquez de Medina pueda otorgar la escritura de su libertad.
