Joseph [José] de Vargas, dueño de recua, vecino de la ciudad de los Ángeles, manifestó dirigirse hacia la Nueva Veracruz y llevar en su recua a dos indios nombrados Juan y Agustín. Asimismo, el corregidor le notificó de la ordenanza que prohíbe bajar con indios a la Nueva Veracruz a partir del 1 de junio de cada año hasta el otro día después de San Francisco, por ser estos meses de mucha agua y trabajosos para los naturales, so pena de 200 pesos a quien lo contraviniere; también se le informó que a los indios debe dársele buen tratamiento y no servirse de ellos contra su voluntad.
