Francisco de Umbrias, dueño de recua, vecino de la ciudad de los Ángeles, manifestó dirigir su recua hacia la Nueva Veracruz y llevar en ella dos indios nombrados Francisco y Diego Matías. Asimismo, el corregidor le notificó que a los indios debe dársele buen tratamiento y no servirse de ellos contra su voluntad; también se le informó de la ordenanza que prohíbe bajar con indios a la Nueva Veracruz, ni pasar con ellos de este pueblo, a partir del 1 de junio de cada año hasta el otro día después de San Francisco, pena de 200 pesos, por las muchas aguas que en estos meses llueve, con que los dichos indios condolecen y mueren y los caminos se menoscaban y roban.
